Meet the Team
Consultant CF and Respiratory Physicians: Dr Helen Rodgers is the director of the CF service and is based at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. She is responsible for out-patient care and is supported by our Ninewells physician, Professor Tom Fardon and other respiratory consultants.
Cystic Fibrosis Nurse Specialists: Gill Brady and Kerry Mulholland spend much of their time working with patients in the community. Gill and Kerry are generally the first point of contact for any problems or advice. The nurses can arrange admissions, clinic appointments and reviews as necessary.
CF Physiotherapists: Ali Smith and Lisa MacDonald provide support and advice on up to date physiotherapy treatments and can see patients at home. They can organise individual exercise and treatment plans, including gym visits as necessary.
CF Dietitian: Alison Marshall sees patients at clinic, home and during in-patient stay. She reviews each patient and offers advice and support on all aspects of nutritional care which can include enzyme review, weight control, supplementary feeding, managing gastrointestinal symptoms and diabetic control. She can also offer cookery or shopping sessions, according to patients needs, within their own home.
CF Pharmacist: Arlene Shaw is the senior Pharmacist responsible for CF. She has regular liaison with the team on pharmacological aspects of CF care.
CF Psychology: Ashleigh Sinclair is the psychologist who provides support and advice for all our patients. Ashleigh is available to make individual out-patient appointments and support our patients with their emotional health and well-being.
The CF team also has close links with microbiology, liver, diabetes, fertility and other specialist services relevant to CF care.
