The Dental A&E department is no longer a walk-in service. If you have dental pain or need emergency dental treatment please call 01382 401455 to be triaged.
You will be asked to explain your symptoms and problems to a member of staff over the phone and if appropriate you will then be given a specific time-slot to attend the dental hospital for an appointment. Phonelines are open Monday to Friday between 8.45am - 12.15pm and 1.30pm - 4.30pm.
Please do not attend without an appointment as we may be unable to see you. If you have problems out of these hours please call NHS24 111.
When you attend, an examination will be undertake to establish and diagnose the condition that is causing you pain or problems. You may need x-rays or other tests. Your treatment may not be completed at this first appointment and you may need to be referred on to other departments for further treatment.
Dundee Dental Hospital is a teaching facility. You will be examined and treated by dental students and dentists who are in training. Senior dentists with extensive experience supervise all diagnosis and treatment carried out by the students.
Dental Accident and Emergency
The dental accident and emergency department provides emergency dental treatment to those patients who are NOT registered with a dentist.
This service is for patients with an acute dental problem which may include dental pain, facial swelling, bleeding, ulceration, dental trauma and/or altered sensation or abnormal appearance.
