Access to both of these services is via the West entrance of Ninewells Hospital, there is no through vehicle access from the main entrance (East) at Ninewells Avenue.
From the main entrance of Ninewells Hospital (East) to get to the West side entrance travel North up Ninewells Avenue, at the roundabout take the first exit along Dickson Avenue, at the end of Dickson Avenue turn left onto Charleston Drive and follow this road right round to the West entrance then follow the directions below.
How to Find Dundee Midwifery Unit and Labour Suite
Before you go into labour we suggest that you do a trial run from your home to the unit so that you are completely aware of the best route.
Dundee Midwifery Unit (DMU) and Labour Suite Access
DMU
Travelling towards the hospital from Charleston Drive to the West entrance, just before James Black Place (where the taxi and bus stances are located), turn right onto Kirsty Semple Way then immediately left onto James Arrott Drive.
The DMU is around 200 metres on the right. There are 2 free 2 hour car parking spaces available outside the entrance to the DMU for the assessment of expectant mums. Once your assessment has been completed your partner will be asked to move the car to the main car park.

Labour Suite
Travelling towards the hospital from Charleston Drive to the West entrance, just before James Black Place (where the taxi and bus stances are located), turn right onto Kirsty Semple Way then first left into the Labour Suite drop off car parking area (directly opposite Westgate Health Centre). The Labour Suite drop off car parking area is located beyond the Westgate Health Centre Permit Holders car park.
There are 4 drop off car parking spaces and 1 disabled drop off car parking space outside the Labour Suite entrance for mums at the late stage of labour. Once you have been assessed your partner will be asked to move the car to the main car park.
