Self-help Resources

Targeted Support

  • Sands?is an organisation for anyone who has been affected by the loss of a baby. It runs a helpline and an email help service, as well as providing information about baby loss.
  • Archie Foundation supports parents and schools to help bereaved children manage their grief through resources, information and guidance.
  • Twins Trust?offers support for families who have lost one or more children from a multiple birth.
  • Scottish Cot death trust offers support and counselling to family following a sudden unexplained death of a baby.
  • Miscarriage Association?offers support to those affected by miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy or molar pregnancy. Their services include a helpline, live chat, support groups and leaflets.
  • ARC offers a helpline answered by trained staff to support parents who have made a decision following antenatal testing and would like on-going support.
  • Cruse Scotland Bereavement Support?provides professional support for bereaved people across Scotland.

Specialist Bereavement Counselling

  • NHS Tayside Maternity and Neonatal Bereavement Counselling specialist counselling for birth parents affected by loss from 14 weeks gestation, stillbirth, termination for foetal abnormality, or neonatal death up to 2 years after a loss or during a future pregnancy.
  • Alternatives Dundee a specialist counselling service for anyone affected by pregnancy loss, abortion, infertility, stillbirth or baby loss at any point in their grief journey.
