The key improvements in Perth & Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership are:

Six Primary Care Mental Health Nurses have been recruited and embedded within GP surgeries across Perth and Kinross. These staff deliver Early Intervention and Prevention to people with lived experience who have mild/ moderate mental health issues
One Registered Mental Health Nurse has been appointed to work with the Social Work Intake team. This is in recognition that a high volume of individuals experiencing mental health issues and specialist Registered Mental Health Nurse input at this stage is crucial
Mindspace is a third sector commissioned service which has been delivering counselling support to Perth City for the last 20 years. The service has received additional funding to expand into rural Perthshire to provide counselling, recovery and peer support
Progressing Mental Health and Substance Misuse Co-Morbidity Pathway
Three Social Prescribers have been recruited with additional monies made available for a further three appointees. They are based around GP practices and are delivering early intervention and signposting
Strategic Needs Assessment completed with support of Public Health to support local data and information
A series of consultation and engagement events undertaken in 2019. Public, Staff and People with lived experience all included and data collected to help develop our new clinical pathways and refreshed Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy
Currently trialling technology-enabled care with a proof of concept pilot underway with ‘Brain in Hand App’ as lead authority area in Scotland
Agreement to recruit and establish Advanced Nurse Practitioners within Community Mental Health Teams across Perth and Kinross. This would enhance clinical expertise, given the recruitment issues with Consultant Psychiatrists
Commenced development of a full and sustainable reporting framework across all areas of Mental Health Provision within Perth and Kinross
