What can I do to help PGP?

There are lots of things you can do to help to manage and reduce your symptoms. Some of these strategies are detailed in the video below.

*We only recommend modifying things that are effecting you or implementing advice that is relevant to your level of function. If your day to day activities do not cause or impact your pain then you do not need to modify them.

Extra Tips and Tricks

  1. Keeping Active – keeping your joints moving and your muscles strong is so important. While certain movements and exercise may aggravate your symptoms, there should be some that do not so try to focus on these. See our physical activity and lifestyle section for more information on exercise in pregnancy.
  2. Good Quality Sleep - we recognise that a full night sleep can be difficult irrespective of pain, but some stretches before bed and making sure you position yourself well can be helpful. See our information on sleep positions to try make yourself more comfortable. Turning in bed may be made more comfortable by turning onto your hands and knees, rather than rolling over.
  3. Pacing - avoid doing too much or too little in one day. If you have an active job, it may be helpful to arrange a risk assessment and discuss potential modifications of work duties.
  4. Avoid being in one position for too long - try to regularly change your position, not sitting in one position for too long.
