Sexual Health & Blood Borne Viruses

The Sexual Health & Blood Borne Virus Managed Care Network (SH & BBV MCN) is a multi-agency group providing overall strategic direction, governance and expert advice ensuring that there is effective engagement with partners to deliver the outcomes of the Scottish Government's Sexual Health and Blood Borne Virus Action Plan 2023-2026.
1. Fewer newly acquired blood borne virus and sexually transmitted infections; fewer unintended pregnancies
2. A reduction in the health inequalities gap in sexual health and blood borne viruses
3. People affected by blood borne viruses lead longer, healthier lives
4. Sexual relationships are free from coercion and harm
5. A society where the attitudes of individuals, the public, professionals and the media in Scotland towards sexual health and blood borne viruses are positive, non-stigmatising and supportive
Encompassing the outcomes described above the MCN has identified three priority areas to be progressed in Tayside:
1. Fewer newly acquired blood borne virus and sexually transmitted infections; fewer unintended pregnancies
2. A reduction in the health inequalities gap in sexual health and blood borne viruses
3. People affected by blood borne viruses lead longer, healthier lives
4. Sexual relationships are free from coercion and harm
5. A society where the attitudes of individuals, the public, professionals and the media in Scotland towards sexual health and blood borne viruses are positive, non-stigmatising and supportive
Encompassing the outcomes described above the MCN has identified three priority areas to be progressed in Tayside:
- Maintaining elimination of hepatitis C and improving harm reduction services
- Getting to zero new HIV infections by 2030
- Improving access to sexual and reproductive healthcare
