Oral Health

Looking after your mouth is important for everyone. Good oral health means healthy teeth, gums, tongue and lips. It helps you eat, speak and smile with confidence, and it also supports your overall health and wellbeing.

For children, keeping baby teeth healthy is key. Brushing twice a day with help from an adult, choosing tooth-friendly food and drinks, and visiting the dentist regularly all make a difference. Baby teeth usually fall out naturally by around age 12, and losing them too early can cause problems for adult teeth later on.

For adults, looking after your mouth can sometimes be challenging. Talking about what matters to you and the care you want is important – whether that’s quick pain relief or longer-term dental support. Some groups, such as people with additional care needs, those experiencing homelessness, or older adults who rely on support, may need extra help with their oral health.
