Local services and agencies

A number of local services provide support help and guidance for people affected by substance use and their families, including one-to-one and group support, education and training, and practical interventions. Information and contact details for services available in Tayside is given below.

Aberlour Family Outreach

Aberlour provide intensive support for families to reduce the adverse impact of parental substance use and improve parenting. Children also receive dedicated time with a children’s worker who provides individualised care plans and support packages to enhance their safety and wellbeing. Addaction Dundee

Addaction Dundee Direct Access Service is a drug and alcohol support service for individuals who are concerned about their own or another’s substance use. Addaction operates as a direct access drop-in service providing one-to-one support, advice and information, assessment and signposting for education, employment, training and aftercare. Children 1st Supporting Families

Children 1st work to help vulnerable children in the Dundee area who have been affected by substance misuse, family breakdown, abuse or neglect. The service aims to prevent exclusion from home, school and the community to strengthen families and help children and young people fulfil their potential. As well as direct support for children, children 1st also assist parents and carers affected by substance misuse to develop practical life skills to enable them to provide a safe and stable environment for their children. Kith n Kin

Kith n Kin is collaboration of two voluntary agencies, Tayside Council on Alcohol and Aberlour Outreach Dundee, working together to provide support for grandparents and other caregivers who are raising a relative's child in Dundee. Find out more at the Kith n Kin section of the Aberlour website.

Tayside Council on Alcohol (TCA)

TCA provide support, education and information for those experiencing problems arising from alcohol misuse throughout Tayside and to promote a healthy approach to alcohol.
