Who to Refer
- For suspected first seizure please see separate First Seizure RefGuide page.
- Please refer patients with an established diagnosis of epilepsy and:
- Lifestyle issues requiring specialist advice.
- Deterioration of epilepsy.
- Diagnostic uncertainty, including change in seizure presentation
- Intolerable side effects related to anti-epileptic medication
- Withdrawal of medication is being considered
- Epilepsy referral flowchart
How to Refer
- For those currently under specialist review
- Please contact the epilepsy nurse specialist in the first instance directly
- Patients can contact the nurse specialist independently for seizure related issues only. For other, non-seizure related matters, patients should be seen in Primary Care with support offered by the hospital service as necessary.
- For those who are not under regular specialist review, please refer via Sci Gateway/Neurology.
