Who we are
Who to refer
- For patients aged 16-40 years, please follow NHS Tayside IBS Assessment and Diagnosis in Primary Care Pathway
- The Pathway may be applied with caution to patients aged 41-49 years; ensure red flags are ruled out. For patients over the age of 50 years, please refer to the Colorectal Service Pathway NHS Tayside (scot.nhs.uk).
Who not to refer
- As per pathway - abnormal initial investigations or red flags.
- Also please ensure a coeliac screen is undertaken; we are unable to provide IBS support until this has been completed.
How to refer
SCI-Gateway/Dietetics. All referrals are triaged centrally and allocated an appropriate intervention i.e. self management guidance, Near Me or telephone appointment.

- Prior investigations as per pathway, including coeliac screen.
