Cerebral Palsy and Neuromuscular Conditions

  • Children with Cerebral Palsy will usually have regular assessment by specialist physiotherapists and other clinicians through the Cerebral Palsy Integrated Pathway Scotland (CPIPS). Any concerns are then referred to the Children’s Orthopaedic Service.
  • Children with other neuromuscular conditions are also usually regularly assessed by specialist children’s physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Paediatricians / Paediatric Neurologists.
  • Any structural musculoskeletal concerns which may require orthopaedic assessment or intervention (i.e. surgery) are usually referred onto the Children’s Orthopaedic Service by the child’s named physio if conservative measures fail.
