Antenatal and Neonatal Referrals

  • Where a significant skeletal abnormality is detected on an antenatal ultrasound (e.g. clubfoot, limb deficiency, arthrogryposis etc) a referral letter should be sent, by the requesting clinician to Mr Campbell who will arrange an antenatal clinic appointment to discuss management with the parents before birth.
  • For most skeletal abnormalities identified at birth, urgent referral via email should be made from Paediatrics to Mr Campbell. Exceptions are finger anomalies (polydactyly, syndactyly) which are managed by Plastic Surgery and should be referred to the on-call hands service.
  • See additional information for developmental dysplasia of the hip, clubfoot/talipes equinovarus and obstetric brachial palsy.
