Local Purchasing

Local Purchasing
The NHS has a very large external impact as a major buyer of goods and services from local, national and international economies and as such, has a major opportunity to improve economic, environmental and social sustainability. Our aim is to support the NHS by realising opportunities for sustainable development through procurement and ultimately delivering sustainable value to the NHS.
By sourcing more goods and services locally, and with organisations that work ethically and sustainable, NHS Tayside can have a positive impact on community wealth and wellbeing.
Please visit the NHS Tayside Procurement for everything you need to know whether you are a customer or a supplier.

NHS Tayside was a pioneer in the public sector in Scotland in adopting Warp-it as its reuse portal. Since its introduction NHS Tayside has achieved the following benefits for the local community:
Carbon saved – 73,462kg
Cars off the road – 31
Waste avoided – 31,910kg

Living Wage Accreditation benefiting local communities
NHS Tayside became an accredited Living Wage employer in 2022, making a formal commitment to paying all staff no less than a real Living Wage. The accreditation also means that staff in any suppliers NHS Tayside contracts with cannot be paid less than the independently calculated Living Wage whilst delivering the contract on our premises. Using the Fair Work First Guidance, NHS Tayside will continue to mandate Real Living Wage in all applicable contracts.
