Purposeful use of land and assets
The NHS in Scotland owns significant amount of land and buildings and NHS Tayside has one of the largest footprints in Scotland spread across its three localities.

Opportunities to open NHS buildings and land for local community use, supporting the development of green spaces and community gardens can provide vital opportunities for the local community to come together in these spaces.

Purposeful use of land assets at Ninewells Community Garden
Ninewells Community Garden was created on a site of disused land in the ground of Ninewells Hospital. Over a number of years, it has been transformed into a multi-use, accessible community garden promoting physical activity and good health through community gardening and horticulture.

The garden is run by community volunteers and is always available for public, patients, staff and community groups to attend. A range of community activities are offered through the year.
