Health services over the festive holidays

Smarty promoting Health Services over Festive Holidays
GP surgeries will be closed on 23, 24, 25, 26, 30 and 31 December 2023 and 1 and 2 January 2024. They will be open as normal on 27, 28 and 29 December and from 3 January.
If you have a non-urgent health issue over the festive holidays, please wait until your GP surgery reopens, contact a local community pharmacy or visit www.nhsinform.scot for answers to common health questions and symptom checkers.

If you think you need A&E, but it’s not life-threatening, call NHS 24 on 111 day or night.

If it’s an emergency, you should call 999 or go to A&E. Do not attend A&E with a problem that you would normally see your GP with. This will allow A&E to concentrate on emergencies.

Visit www.rightcaretayside.scot.nhs.uk for more information on getting the right care in the right place this winter.

Repeat Medication

Please ensure that you order any regular medication you need in plenty of time before the festive holidays and allow seven days between ordering and collecting your prescription. There is no need to order additional medication. If you need emergency medication please contact your regular pharmacy. The out-of-hours service is for urgent medical problems only and providing repeat medication may delay treatment of patients with an acute problem.

Pharmacy opening times

Please consider visiting a pharmacy before calling 111 as many ailments don't require you to see a doctor. Click here for pharmacy opening times over the festive holidays.

Vaccination centres

All of our vaccination centres will be closed 25-26 December and 1-2 January. Please visit www.vaccinationtayside.scot.nhs.uk for details of drop-in clinics over the festive period.

Dental services

Dundee Dental Hospital and the Public Dental Service are closed for the NHS Tayside public holidays on 25 and 26 December and 1 and 2 January.

If you have a dental emergency, you should call NHS24 on 111 for advice and access to emergency care.
