Education Services

The Hearing Impairment Team in Angus supports children aged 0-18 with a hearing loss. We work with families in the home, playgroups, nurseries, primary and secondary schools across Angus. We can offer advice and help with the modes of communication; hearing aids; placement and creating the optimum listening environment.

The Hearing Impairment Team can help with:

• Offer information to provide an informed communication choice for families
• Support transitions to nursery, primary, secondary and post school destinations
• Directly work with children in their educational setting offering a range of communication support dependent on needs
• Provide training for staff on hearing loss and Deaf Awareness
• Advise on specific exam arrangements

We work collaboratively with TayCAST (Tayside Children’s Audiology Service Team) to provide early intervention and support for families. We also work with our Tayside colleagues in Perth and Dundee to provide opportunities for deaf young people to meet together to discuss issues important to their needs.
