Near Me DOT (video calls)
All of our regular diabetes clinics take place using the Near Me video call service. This is similar to using Skype or Facetime, but uses a secure system developed by NHS Scotland.
To take part, you will need:
- A good connection to the internet. If you can watch a video online (e.g. YouTube) you can make a video call
- A private, well-lit area where you will not be disturbed during the consultation
- A device with a web-camera, speakers and microphone (already built into laptops or mobile devices)
One of these:
- Google Chrome web brower on a desktop or laptop (Windows of MacOS), or on an Android tablet or smartphone
- Safari web browser on an Apple desktop or laptop (MacOS), or iPad or iPhone
See below for minimum system requirements.
You will be receive an appointment through the post, in the same way as you would for a face-to-face hospital clinic visit.
Be sure to
upload your meter and/or pump before the appointment so that we can discuss your blood glucose readings.
Attend your appointment at the given time by going to
https://nhsattend.vc/nhstoutpatients.
The DOT team is notified when you arrive, and a member of the team will join you when ready. There is no need to create an account and no information you enter is stored.
Minimum system requirements:
- Windows PC with i5 processor and 3GB of RAM (Windows 7 or later)
- Apple Mac with i5 processor and 3GB of RAM (MacOS 10.12 Sierra or later)
- Android-based smartphone or tablet (Android 5.1 or later)
- iPhone or iPad (iOS 11.4 or later)
The
Video Call app is no longer required for iOS devices (since November 2018) and can be removed from your device.
