Personal Profile
Councillor John Alexander is an elected representative in Dundee and has held the position of Leader of Dundee City Council since 2017.
John has held a variety of senior roles within the ruling administration since 2012 including, Convener of Housing and Convener of Neighbourhood Services (which consists of Housing, Environment and Communities).
John has a particular interest in working to address social and health inequalities and has played an active role in the City of Dundee’s Fairness (poverty) Commission and latterly, the Fairness Leadership Panel which he now co-chairs. He was also one of the architects of the Dundee Drugs Commission.
In his current role, he also acts as Chair for the Dundee Partnership Forum, the partnership providing the City’s wider strategic leadership on city-wide issues of importance.
