Stroke, Neuro and Major Physical Trauma Rehabilitation

Stroke, Neuro and Major Physical Trauma Rehabilitation Service is an inpatient rehabilitation setting based in Wards 4 and 5 in Royal Victoria Hospital. Interdisciplinary teams based within this service provide rehabilitation for people who have had a recent insult due to stroke, a neurological condition or physical major trauma.
Our holistic rehabilitation care model aims to optimise function, reduce disability, promote independence by working alongside patients and their families to achieve individualised, meaningful outcomes.

Who is involved in rehabilitation whilst an inpatient?
The Whole Team
The entire team within our service attend morning multidisciplinary (MDT) meetings to discuss any changes or developments that may happen daily. Every week the team meet to talk about patient progress. These meetings allow clinical staff to share updates of patient progress and help plan discharges from hospital.
Visiting an Inpatient
Visiting is an important part of the rehabilitation process. Visitors can visit at any time throughout the day; however, it is helpful to avoid mealtimes and therapy times.
Approximate Mealtimes:
Breakfast: 8.00am to 9.00am
Lunch: 11.45am to 1.00pm
Dinner: 4.30pm to 6.00pm
Visitors who are or feel unwell should refrain from visiting the ward.
If you have a pet you wish to bring to visit a loved one, please speak to the Nurse in Charge to discuss accommodating this request.
