Alerting Devices/Streamers

Hearing aids are generally useful up to a 2-metre distance and so there are some situations where due to the distance you may still not be able to hear well. Other equipment can help you in those situations.
You may want to consider if it is hard for you to hear your doorbell, smoke alarm or alarm clock and consider getting an alerting device to help.
You might find it helpful to have something to help with the TV, your land line phone or your mobile phone.
Some equipment may work with your hearing aid, and some are standalone devices. It is possible to get equipment which transfers sound directly through the hearing aids through a technology similar to Bluetooth. Your hearing aids would need to be set up to support this during an appointment
Please speak to your audiologist if you want to know more information on these devices and where you can get them from.
