We provide the latest NHS hearing aids to cover a large range hearing impairments from a mild difficulty to a profound hearing loss.
However, sometimes hearing aids are simply not enough to improve your connection and communication with people.
Additional accessories are available to assist you in everyday situations, such as hearing someone better while in a busy place, during work meetings, hearing the television louder and amplifying or using your hearing aid to connect to your telephone.
Using other types of equipment can be another way to help. Some work separately to hearing aids such as alerting devices e.g. door signals and alarm signals.
These devices can be obtained from local support charities and government funded organisations such as North East Sensory Services (NESS), Vision PK, RNID and Access to Work:

Access to Work
If you work full time, part time or are self-employed, the Government’s Access to Work (ATW) scheme may pay for, or pay towards, equipment you need at work or for your job interviews
The grant does not need to be repaid and will not affect our other benefits.
Eligibility:
- Over 16 and wears hearing aids.
- Lives in England, Scotland or Wales
- Employed, self employed, work experience or about to start a job
