4. How do I pay?
Payment will be made via a chip and pin machine held in the Audiology Department, Kings Cross Health & Community Care Centre. If you are not seen at Kings Cross then you will be able to pay over the phone prior to your appointment to receive your replacement hearing aid.

Payment must be made before you get a replacement hearing aid.
6. Do I have to collect the replacement hearing aid or can it be posted to my home address?
You will need to attend an appointment to have your hearing aid replaced in most cases.
Please note: If you need a new ear mould, you will need an appointment for an impression before you get a replacement hearing aid.
7. Do I have to pay postage?
No, NHS Tayside will cover the postage if your replacement hearing aid has to be posted to you.
8. Can I drop in to collect a replacement aid or do I have to make an appointment?
You can do whatever suits you.
There is an Open Access Service at Kings Cross Health & Community Care centre which you can attend during opening times or book an appointment for our other locations for a replacement hearing aid.
If your appointment is out with Kings Cross Health & Community Centre, you will need to pay the administration charge before your appointment.
9. Will I get a more up - to date hearing aid?
No, you will get the same hearing aid as the one you have lost.
10. Will it be programmed to my hearing loss?
Yes, your hearing aid will be programmed to your previous settings.
11. What happens if I find my lost hearing aid?
If you find your hearing aid within 12 weeks of being charged for a replacement, you will be refunded as long as you return the replacement hearing aid to the department.
12. Can I buy a spare hearing aid?
No, as the fee is an administration charge.

- Victims of house theft or mugging where the hearing aid is stolen (a Police crime number relating to the reported theft of the hearing aid is required)
- Patients who are blind or partially sighted
- Patients with a terminal illness
- Hearing aids more than 5 years old (in this case a reassessment is indicated)
- In-patients (if aids are lost in a ward or in a care home
