How long will I wait for my child to be seen by CAMHS?

Time Frames Clock
We are sorry that there is currently a much longer wait than we would want for children and young people to be assessed. We understand how difficult this could be for young people, their families and the system that supports them. Waiting times are very hard to accurately predict for the service due to many changeable demands and capacity factors. This includes: rates of referral, complexity of young people referred, age of young people referred, staff absence, staff retirement and unfilled posts. This means it is very hard to predict how long a person will wait until they are seen.

In the meantime, you may find it helpful to access some online information and support. You can find the resources that we recommend on our resources page. We have also put together a common concerns page offering advice and information around a range of difficulties CAMHS are routinely asked for support with. There are a number of local and national supports including parent support groups in the area. You will find contact details for these in our resources section.

We are working hard to ensure that children are seen as quickly as we can.
