My child is on the waiting list for CAMHS but I'm worried that things are getting worse for my child. What can I do?

We are sorry your child is struggling at the moment and we wish we could offer an appointment sooner. If you’re concerns about your child increase whilst you are waiting for an appointment from CAMHS, the first thing to do is consult your GP. Your GP can make the decision about whether your child needs to be seen sooner and will contact CAMHS directly to discuss this further.
You can also telephone the main CAMHS number and talk to one of the team who will give your information to the Duty worker. They will call you back that day to gather some information to make the best choice about your future care and if we need to look at your referral being prioritised.
If the decision is that your child doesn’t need to be seen sooner there are useful contacts and resources on our resources page. There may be another service who could offer some support whilst you wait.
