What does an ADOS assessment look like?

ADOS stands for Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule and is a standardised diagnostic tool for Autism Spectrum Disorder.
It includes a series of standardised scenarios, structured conversations and social scenarios carried out by a CAMHS clinician, so they can observe your child’s responses and functioning. ADOS is only one element of an ASD assessment, for example, the CAMHS clinician will also talk to you about your observations and the child’s history.
Your child’s Clinician will talk you through everything and answer any questions you have about any assessment your child has. They will also provide you with reading material and resources. Don’t hold back any questions - that is what we are here for.
