Head Turning and Head Shape

C&YP Physio Head Turning
The labour process can cause a baby's head to be altered in shape.  This is normal and usually resolves within the first few weeks after birth.

However, if you notice that your baby prefers their head turning to one side or has a tightness in the neck muscles please speak to your Health Visitor/GP or contact our Advice Line.
Please see 'Head Turning Preference and Plagiocephaly' for useful information, from the Association of Chartered Paediatric Physiotherapists.

The following YouTube video by mychild.ie shows activities to help promote head turning and the development of a normal head shape.
