Staff Green Champions

Green Champions
Are you passionate about reducing NHS Tayside’s carbon footprint? Do you have an interest in helping the local population and wider environment?

If the answer is yes then why not join our team as a green champion!
The role of a green champion is flexible voluntary role to be undertaken during working hours with the support of your line manager. We appreciate how busy everyone is but even if you feel you can commit 30 to 60 minutes a week and are enthusiastic, willing to learn, motivated and pragmatic we would love to have you! We need enthusiastic and motivated people from all areas and services to help deliver our ambitions of reaching net zero!

As a green champion you will be:
  •  supported to embed sustainability into your area of work and share learning with your teams and colleagues.
  •  vital in helping highlight more areas where we can improve our sustainability, reduce emissions, and deliver on our sustainability actions and targets.

We need champions who can promote sustainability in their area, collect ideas and feedback issues from their service, be part of our green champion network, be a channel for information to share with your area/team, report on any projects in your area and be the local point of contact for your teams for those wishing to find out more or join us too.

The benefits of being a green champion include:
  • giving you experience in projects, management skills and helping improve communications skills through influencing and sharing information.
  • developing your skills and enhancing employability

Green champions will be asked to complete the Sustainability and Climate Change and Waste Management Turas modules to provide an insight into where you can make a difference in your area. They will also be added to a green champions network MS Teams channel and chat where members can share ideas, projects and good practice.

If you feel passionate about climate change and sustainability and and want to sign up or find out more please get in touch at tay.climatechange@nhs.scot

All champions will receive a free badge (recyclable of course!) to wear with pride so you can be identified in your area as a green champion.
