Carer's Emergency Card and Emergency Plan

What would happen to the person you care for if you are in an accident or suddenly take ill?

Creating an emergency plan gives peace of mind. It’s a simple document that outlines what needs to be done to support the person you care for if you’re unable to carry out your caring role at short notice.

You can also carry a Carer’s Emergency Card. This is a credit card-sized card that lets others know you have a caring role. There’s a matching card for the person you care for, so people understand they depend on you.

For help setting up your emergency plan and getting your card, speak to your local carers centre. They’re here to support you in planning for the unexpected.  Further information can also be found on the Carers Scotland webpage.
