Background Information

The Scottish Government has allocated funding to NHS Tayside to improve maternal and infant nutrition. If you are delivering nutrition related activities targeted at pregnant women, infants and children up to the age of 5 and vulnerable groups we are keen to look at ways we can support you to deliver these initiatives.

A whole range of activities are eligible for funding, particularly those which can be demonstrated to have a positive impact on improving maternal and infant nutrition and engaging with communities.

Topics that would be considered for funding are:
• Training to upskill staff and volunteers around healthy eating and family food skills
• Events or resources to promote Best Start Foods Scheme
• Events supporting Infant Feeding
• Delivery of initiatives in a nursery setting which includes families

Funding Criteria:

Maternal and Infant Nutrition Small Grants will be awarded on a non recurring basis to a maximum of £500

Funding requested should:

• reflect the costs of carrying out the activity. Other sources of funding including costs which may already be contributing to a project by way of staff time etc should be identified for information

• be submitted using the Application for Funding Form for the Maternal and Infant Nutrition Small Grants Scheme. Applications will be considered on an individual basis, as and when applications are received

• Successful applicants will be required to submit a short evaluation on completion of the initiative
