The Dundee Respiratory Physiotherapy Team are based in both Ninewells and Kings Cross Hospitals. The team manages a wide range of respiratory patients through different sub team, both as inpatients and in the community,
Working hours are Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm (In-patients) and 8:30am-4:30 pm (Community)

In-Patient Management
In- Patient services range from critical care, through to surgical and medical respiratory wards. Treatment, advice and education is provided to help enable patients to return to their previous baseline activities. Each ward has a designated physiotherapy contact, who will review all patients from that specific ward.
For patients admitted with an exacerbation of their chronic respiratory condition:
For patients under the care of a respiratory consultant, onward referrals can be made to any appropriate community services by medical staff, the RLN team or the ward Physiotherapist.
For patients not under the care of the respiratory team, referrals should be made through the ward physiotherapist.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Pulmonary rehabilitation is provided across several sites in Dundee. Classes for those more severely affected by their respiratory condition are held in Kings Cross Hospital, with community classes being run for those who are more able. An education programme is also provided after each session.

Hospital Transitions Service
This service is provided to facilitate the transition from hospital in to Pulmonary rehabilitation classes. It can also be used for patients with a recent exacerbation, who were managed at home rather than being admitted to hospital.
Patients referred to this service will have some short term support at home (up to 4 sessions) to facilitate participation into the Pulmonary Rehabilitation classes.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation at Home
A limited service is provided to patients with the aim of helping them improve their respiratory symptom management. Where possible the Physiotherapy team will try to promote attendance at appropriate classes.
