What is pre-assessment?

Patients are reviewed by the pre-assessment team when they have been added to a waiting list in preparation for their surgery. The aim of the pre-assessment process is to find out about any medical conditions you may have and to make sure you are as fit as you can be for your operation, which makes your surgery as safe as possible. The pre-assessment team will also give you advice about your medication around the time of you operation.
