Training Programme
November 2025 - March 2026

The Tobacco Dependency and Smoking Cessation Team will deliver training
throughout the year with the aim to up-skill and develop an understanding of the dangers
associated with nicotine dependency and the impact that this drug has on individuals,
ourlocal community, society and the global implications.
 

This training is available for NHS, 3rd sector,local authority staff, volunteers and other members of the public. All training courses are online.
 

Vaping in Tayside for Adults & Young People
- 1 hour
This is a course for anyone living, working or volunteering in Tayside who would like to increase their
awareness and knowledge of e-cigarettes/ vaping.
Presented in collaboration with the Early Years & Young People Team from Public Health
 

How to have Conversations about Smoking
– 1 hour
This is a course which will enable participants to raise the important topic of tobacco dependency
using Very Brief Advice (VBA), Make Every Contact Count (MECC)
and signpost people to stop smoking support available in Tayside
 

Stopping Smoking and Available Medications
- 1 hour
This is a course which will provide information about
medication, correct usage and upcoming research
 

Smoking and the IMPACT on Mental Health
- 1 hour
This is a course for professionals who support people with lived experience of mental ill-health to initiate
conversations about stopping smoking
