Home Therapies
The Home Therapies team provide training and support to patients who choose to carry out their dialysis at home.
Training is carried out on both peritoneal and haemodialysis on site in Ninewells.
We have a staff of 4, 3 nurses and 1 administrator.
We are based in Ninewells Hospital within the renal department, and cover the whole of NHS Tayside. Depending on patient choice, and suitability, we train either in the patients own home in the case of Peritoneal Dialysis, or in our small training annexe adjacent to the main dialysis unit in Ninewells in the case of Haemodialysis.
Patients who choose Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) will carry out all their treatment at home once trained, and can expect regular visits from our team for support. Patients who choose Haemodialysis can then decide whether to carry out their treatment at home, or be independent in our training annexe. These patients can also expect regular visits from the team for support.
