Dundee Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service Community Programme

Our two week community group programme supports people wanting to detox. People who have completed an inpatient detox at Kinclaven Unit can also attend the community programme following discharge.

The programme consists of:
  • Prescribing for alcohol detox including chlordiazepoxide and pabrinex
  • Methadone or buprenorphine detoxes
  • Starting medications to support abstinence including naltrexone, acamprosate, disulfiram
  • Meeting with voluntary sector agencies about wider recovery supports and SMART recovery
  • Psychological programme
  • Peer support from other group members
  • Daily structure

Inpatient Programme

The inpatient programme at Kinclaven Unit, Murray Royal Hospital, Perth provides the following:

  • Prescribing for alcohol detox including chlordiazepoxide and pabrinex, for those who cannot detox safely in the community.
  • Buprenorphine detoxes for those who have previously unsuccessfully detoxed in the community.
  • High dose methadone transfers to buprenorphine.
  • Starting medications to support abstinence including naltrexone, acamprosate, disulfiram.
  • Psychological programme.
