Administrator
The Administrator is the first point of contact on the telephone. They will explain to you what the service can offer and answer any questions you may have. If you decide to enrol into Working Health Services Tayside, the Administrator will take some basic details from you and arrange for a Case Manager to call you back for further information.
Case Manager
The Case Manager will support you throughout your contact with the service from enrolment to discharge. Their role is to work collaboratively with you and all other health professionals ensuring your needs are met. If required, they can negotiate workplace adjustments with your employer and line manager to ensure you remain at work.
Physiotherapist
You will be referred to physiotherapy if you have a joint, spine or soft tissue problem. The Physiotherapist can provide specific work rehabilitation and support you in reducing pain, disability and restoring function. Your rehabilitation may include exercises, manual therapy, acupuncture or corticosteroid injection, depending on your symptoms and also by agreeing a treatment plan with you. If the Physiotherapist is the first therapy contact for you, they may refer you to the Occupational Therapist or any additional therapies you might need to support you to remain at work. Of course nothing will happen without your consent.
Counsellor
Counselling is a process that helps a person step back from a problem and see it more clearly; it is a way of enabling choice or change or of reducing confusion to help you identify your own way forward. Our counsellor will help you explore and, where possible, support you to resolve difficulties by providing a safe and non-judgemental space in which to talk. The Counsellor may provide you with information but will not give advice or direct you to take a particular action. Counselling sessions last around 50 minutes and usually take place weekly or fortnightly. The Counsellor will discuss with you how many sessions you may require.
