Men's Sheds

The Men's Shed idea originated in Australia and is gaining popularity here in Scotland. Men's Sheds are acknowledged as providing many benefits for the men who attend and also for their families, friends and the communities in which they are situated. They are friendly environments that cater for men of all interests, ages and cultures and serve as important meeting places for men to socialise, share life experiences and skills. By supporting the social, emotional, psychological and physical wellbeing of men they are an important vehicle for maintaining good and promoting good health & wellbeing.
Within Perth and Kinross there is an established Shed in Invergowrie, Carse of Gowrie Men's Shed and a Perth Men's Shed group has been formed, constituted and are now actively seeking premises. Until premises are sources they are facilitating 'pop up' sheds at Glenearn Campus. Future awareness meetings are scheduled for Kinross (16th March), Aberfeldy and Blairgowrie.
The Healthy Communities team organise the initial public meetings and continue to support, with other services partners, the local Men's Shed whenever needed.
