Perth & Kinross Healthy Communities

Healthy Communities People
Promoting wellbeing, reducing isolation and vulnerability through information sharing and supporting community connections.

The Healthy Communities approach to Wellbeing is particularly relevant in the context of the health and social care integration. Our aim is for people and communities to enjoy improved physical and mental wellbeing by
  • Enabling prevention
  • Signposting to community activities
  • Nurturing community resilience
  • Helping establish local opportunities to support wellbeing

We work with the knowledge and networks of local people to improve health and quality of life for themselves and their peers, tailoring action to meet the local ambitions and circumstances of each unique community. This has included supporting new low impact exercise groups, activities to promote digital inclusion and to address loneliness and isolation

Healthy Communities work to promote 3 key aims:
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing
  • Physical Activity and Active Communities
  • Social Connectedness

In collaboration with local people, the opportunities listed below have been implemented in various communities across Perth and Kinross:
  • Gentle, Low Impact and Tailored Exercise Groups
  • Physical Activity Opportunities e.g. Indoor Kurling, Boccia
  • Lunch Clubs
  • Socialising Opportunities
  • Information Forums
  • Community Engagement and Consultations
  • Men’s Shed
And much more!
