Personal Profile
Linda Martindale is Professor of Higher Education and Academic Practice, and Dean of the School of Health Sciences at the University of Dundee where she has worked for over 20 years. In her role as Dean she works closely with colleagues in the NHS, as well as other national and international stakeholders towards excellence in education for pre-registration nursing programmes and other healthcare professionals, as well as supporting applied health sciences research.

Linda was previously Associate Dean Learning and Teaching. In this role she oversaw a major review of the NMC-accredited nursing programmes, including pre-registration programes for adult, child and mental health nursing, as well as non-medical prescribing. Linda has wide experience in online education, as well as expertise in curriculum development, particularly for professional healthcare programmes.

Linda’s research and scholarship interests are in the areas of professional education, academic leadership, and expert teaching in higher education.  Her recent work has included research, focusing on academic leadership during the Covid pandemic and she continues to develop work related to development of expert teachers in higher education.
