Volunteering at Cornhill Macmillan Centre, Perth

Cornhill Macmillan Centre
Cornhill Macmillan Centre is a purpose built Specialist Palliative Care Unit, in the grounds of Perth Royal Infirmary.  Services are managed by NHS Tayside and involvement from Macmillan Cancer Support.  Specialist palliative care services are for patients and their carers coping with the difficulties surrounding life limiting illness.  The Specialist Services include a 10 bed in-patient unit, a hospital Palliative Care Team, Day Care Services and our Community Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialists.

Our volunteers are an extensive and integral part of this team, providing an essential and valuable support service to enhance the patient experience.  Volunteer roles include driving patients to and from the unit, reception duties, providng hospitality and social support in day care and in our in-patient unit, arranging flowers, helping in the garden, collecting cheques from the public, carrying out community talks, providing hand and nail care, helping out in the office and supporting patients in their own home.

We are always looking for new volunteers to support us.  At the moment we are looking for help with driving patients to and from the unit and at our welcome area and if you have even a little time to spare then we would be delighted to hear from you.
