What do volunteers do?
Some examples of the things our volunteers do in NHS Tayside:
- Help people by visiting them at home, social support at home, volunteering in a hospital ward
- Driving patients to and from one of our sites, for example at Cornhill Macmillan Centre
Welcome Guides in our Hospitals
Based at the front door of Ninewells or Perth Royal Infirmary, volunteers provide a friendly face and expert directions to any area of the hospital. They can guide people directly to their appointment / visit and help them get assistance such as a wheelchair or a porter.
This role is suited for people with good listening and communication skills. You will have a reasonable level of fitness. You must be reliable, have a helpful, friendly and understanding nature and be caring, sympathetic and sensitive. You will have a genuine interest in helping people and be able to work without direct supervision.
