What is CAMHS?

NHS Tayside CAMHS provides specialist assessment and treatment for children aged up to 16 (or 18 if they stay on at secondary school), who have or are suspected to have a moderate or severe mental health condition or neurodevelopmental condition.
Our aim is to ensure that we deliver the best or most appropriate services possible to meet the particular needs of the child or young person. This may include being signposted to a more appropriate service.

Specialist Pathways

There are two main areas of work in CAMHS, referred to as Pathways:

Mental Health Pathway

CAMHS offers specialist assessment and interventions for children and young people experiencing persistent, complex or severe mental health difficulties.

Paediatric Neurodevelopmental Pathway

Provides specialist assessment / intervention for children and young people aged up to 16 (or 18 if they remain in secondary school),  who are presenting with neurdevelopmental difficulties which can include:-
  • Austistic Spectrum Disorder
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)
  • Intellectual Disability
  • Tics and Tourettes syndrome
