Paediatric Neurodevelopmental Pathway

NHS Tayside Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services currently see children and young people where there are concerns about a mental health problem or a neurodevelopmental disorder such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Intellectual Disability (formerly referred to as Learning Difficulty).
There are significant waiting times impacting the entire service and a range of improvement work is currently underway to address these.

As of 1st July 2020, a separate referral pathway (Paediatric Neurodevelopmental) became operational. This pathway provides specialist assessment/intervention for children and young people presenting with neurodevelopmental difficulties. The pathway for referral for mental health concerns remains unchanged and to support this change in the initial stages, the service will support redirecting referrals between both pathways.
Referrals should be sent centrally for the whole of Tayside to:

Centre for Child Health, 19 Dudhope Terrace, Dundee, DD3 6HH
via Sci-gateway, (under ‘P’ for Paediatric Neurodevelopmental Pathway and under ‘C’ for CAMHS)
When a referral is accepted we will write to the child or young person and their family, confirming which waiting list they are on and providing some information about useful resources.
