I'm worried that I will be detained if I come to CAMHS, will I?
Very few young people become so unwell that a period of time in the inpatient Young Persons Unit (YPU) is needed.
It’s most likely that you will be seen by someone from CAMHS Outpatients Service. Be assured young people are only ever detained when they are at significant risk to themselves and where we cannot ensure their safety at home or in the community.
Detaining a young person is always done to protect them and keep them safe, not to harm.
