Common Concerns

Young People and their families often approach NHST CAMHS, GP’s, teachers, social workers and other professionals for support with a variety of common worries and concerns regarding emotional wellbeing. These include, but are not limited to:

Worry and anxiety

Low mood

Sleep Difficulties

Intentional self harm

Relationship difficulties

Gender Concerns

It’s important to normalise some of the challenges young people experience. It’s fairly common for children and young people to experience some of the above difficulties as they grow and develop. We do appreciate this can still cause concern, upset and worry. To help we have put together some common concern pages and resources which you might find useful to signpost young people and their families too in the first instance before referring into CAMHS and /or whilst the young person is waiting to be seen by CAMHS
.
These strategies and resources are likely to be helpful for all children and young people, irrespective of whether they are seen by CAMHS and they will not interfere with any future treatment. Therefore, there will be no harm in signposting and suggesting that young people use some of the strategies now.
