Counselling in Schools Tayside 

part of Scottish Government plans, all schools in Tayside now have access to counselling services for those aged 10 years and up. All schools aim to support children and young people as part of their approach to Getting it Right for Every Child.

If you have any concerns about your child’s emotional and mental health, these can always be discussed with the school to try and provide appropriate support.

Penumbra 

Penumbra’s Peer Support Service in South Angus can offer practical and emotional support if you’re experiencing mental health challenges, including self-harm or thoughts of suicide. You can access the service through your GP surgery in South Angus. This service is available to those aged 11 and over.

The Beacon

The Beacon is a new Community Wellbeing Centre offering community support for anyone living in Angus aged 16 and over, from 12 noon to 12 midnight, 7 days a week, every day of the year.
Providing a kind, caring, and compassionate place to go if you are suffering from mental health and wellbeing distress, everyone, including family members and carers, can access support in person, over the phone, via text, email, or by reaching out on social media.

Aberlour Primary Years Wellbeing Service 

The Angus Primary Years Wellbeing Service helps to support primary school aged children with their mental health. We offer 1-1 and group wellbeing support in schools to children in Angus aged 5-12 years and their parents/carers. Our focus is on children experiencing anxiety, low mood, behavioural and social difficulties. We aim to help build emotional resilience and improve children’s overall health and wellbeing.

Aware, Angus Womens' Aid

Aware empowers children and young people across Angus to explore their options and make safe choices. Aware works with children and young people, under the age of 18, living in the Angus area who have experienced, or are still experiencing domestic abuse either at home or in their own relationship.

DAYS support all young people, of any gender, aged between 8 and 18 who live in Dundee or Angus and have experienced sexual abuse of any kind.

young carer is someone aged 18 or under who helps to look after or support a member of their family due to physical or learning disability, mental illness, physical illness, drug or alcohol problems, chronic or terminal illness.

Aberlour Sustain Family Support Angus 

We help families overcome their challenges and difficulties by building long-term relationships that help them get back on their feet. Our approach is to create personalised support for both children and their parents.
Our team recognise that parents know the most about their family circumstances. We work actively to identify the areas where they are managing and those where they need extra help. The service is flexible in its intensity and aims to encourage the building of family routines, resilience and improve parental confidence.
All referrals come through Angus Council.

Vibrant Communities 

The Angus Council Vibrant Communities service has a dedicated youth work team.
The team works with young people aged 11 years and up, through individual and group work in schools and communities.
Through non-formal, educational and fun activities, they support young people's:
• health and wellbeing
• learning and achievement
• Youth Voice and participation
A key feature of youth work is that young people choose to participate in activities voluntarily. They are also supported to set their own learning goals and learning is at their pace. Through this approach, young people can achieve key life skills.
