Training and Education

As a team we deliver a variety of different training packages that meet the unique demands of the learning disability service. This section of the website provides information on training opportunities for care support staff. 

Remote Eat Right, Feel Amazing 

Who is this training for?
This training is for paid carers of adults with a learning disability. Participants will learn more about how to eat well, including how to better support individuals with a learning disability to do the same.

About the training?
The 3 hour training session will be delivered remotely over Microsoft teams and will cover:
  • Eating well for health
  • Portion recommendations
  • Cooking tips and tricks
  • Ideas on how you can better support people to eat better

Dysphagia

The Tayside Adult Learning Disability and Mental Health Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Department, in conjunction with the Learning Disability Nutrition and Dietitian Service.  The purpose of Dysphagia training is to help to support those working with individuals who have eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties.

Bespoke/Individualised Training Opportunities

We are committed to providing the best support to Learning Disability Services throughout Tayside, as such we are able to offer specific individualised training for paid carers supporting people with a Learning Disability who have been referred to our service.  For more information please contact us directly on tay.lddietetics@nhs.scot.
