Stress Urinary Incontinence

Do you experience urinary leakage when you cough, sneeze, lift something or laugh? Are you struggling to exercise due to fear of leakage? Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is when you experience unintentional leakage of urine with sudden pressure on your bladder.
This is the most common type of urinary incontinence. 1 in every 3 women can experience leakage in their life time.

The most common cause of SUI is weakness in the muscles supporting your bladder. These muscles are called the Pelvic Floor Muscles. These can be weakened during pregnancy and childbirth, during or after the menopause, with chronic constipation, repetitive heavy lifting, being overweight, having a chronic cough (chest conditions or smoking) and the normal aging process.

By addressing some of these factors and by strengthening our pelvic floor, (and putting it to good use), we can significantly improve these symptoms.
