A Managed Clinical Network is a network of a variety of healthcare staff improving the quality and efficiency of services across complex whole systems and has become even more important in the current financial climate. MCNs achieve their results through consensus and collaboration, by enabling clinicians, patients and service managers to work together across boundaries to deliver safe, effective and person-centred care.
(CEL 29 (2012) Managed Clinical Networks, Scottish Government)
The purpose of our MCN is to improve the health and wellbeing of the adults and children in Angus, Dundee, and Perth & Kinross. We do this by co-ordinating the development and provision of the best possible integrated care across service and professional boundaries, we support evidence-based quality improvements by working with health care professionals in respiratory care to enhance the care pathway for the people of Tayside. The MCN sits in the ideal position to liaise with the three Health and Social Care Partnerships (HSCP) through which important decisions regarding the care of our patients are made. The three HSCPs have very different approaches to the provision of respiratory care across Tayside; the MCN is in a primary position to work with all of the HSCPs to ensure equity of access to, and quality of care.
