Speak Up Week 2024
Speak Up Week was first launched by the Independent National Whistleblowing Officer (INWO) in 2022 and aims to raise awareness about how staff, students and volunteers can raise concerns.
This year’s theme was ‘Enabling Speaking Up’ and different topics were explored over the week including leadership and speak up culture, how staff can speak up, and building trust.

Speak Up Week Pledges
As part of a commitment to drive speak up culture and a safer NHS for all, NHS Tayside staff, students and volunteers were invited to complete a Speak Up Week pledge.
Information Stands
Staff had the opportunity to visit an information stand at NHS Tayside’s Partnership Conference and Wellbeing Champions Engagement Event.
The information stand highlighted pledges made by Chief Executive Nicky Connor and the Executive Leadership Team and gave attendees the opportunity to submit their own Speak Up Week pledges.
A further two information stands were hosted by NHS Tayside’s Confidential Contacts at the Pavilion Café, Stracathro Hospital and outside the Level 5 Canteen at Ninewells Hospital.

INWO Activities
Throughout the week, the INWO hosted a series of live events with NHS leaders and posted videos, articles and blogs online.
